Vinicius a doubt for Brazil's opener

Brazil star Vinicius Jr is rated '50/50' by Carlo Ancelotti for the Selecao's opening match of the 2026 World Cup.

The Real Madrid star arrived at the tournament with an ankle knock and is in a race against time to feature against Morocco at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday, June 13th.

Initial scans suggested that Vinicius may miss more of the tournament after turning his ankle on the final day of the La Liga season.

However, subsequent tests have allayed those fears and Brazil boss Ancelotti told reporters that he expected his star forward to ‘feature in some capacity’ against Haiti and Scotland, Brazil's final two opponents in Group C.
